Maude was such an amazing person and friend. I worked with her for years doing chair yoga at her apartment. We shared many laughs, and had robust talks of life and politics. She was always telling me about Lily and how similar she was to my own son, Gabe. Maude was one of my most favorite people. I will miss her very much. Sending my condolences to her family.

Miss Darling was my sixth grade teacher at Albany Street School in Utica. Our classroom was on the 3rd floor of the school overlooking my family house. During the day she would often comment about my mom’s comings and goings. Things like she’s walking your dog. She bought a lot of groceries. So when my mom went to parents teachers night she brought Miss D a present. Binoculars. I was pleased to be invited to her 80th Birthday Party where she laughing remembered that story. Rest in peace Maude. You deserve it!

My 6th grade teacher at MLK. Ms. Darling was a jewel to me and I loved her very much. She was a teacher that truly cared about her students. She taught me so many things and exposed me to a life outside of my own. My very 1st horseback ride on her brother's farm is a memory I will never forget. I just spoke with her a few weeks ago and I am glad I was able to tell her how special she was to me. Rest well my friend. You will truly be missed.

Q: How did you meet Maureen?
A: I met Maureen in the mid to late 80s. She lived in the same building as my Grandma, Irene Wood. The 2 of them formed a great friendship and I loved being a part of it as I grew up. I enjoyed her stories. Especially about her cats. I can remember spending many nights with my Grandma and she knew when Maureen would be coming home from Scrabble with her tote bag in hand. Maureen always spoke so highly of Jesse and Lucy and especially Lily! Maureen always said Lily was a child prodigy! She loved talking about them and I loved to hear about it. I lost touch with Maureen a bit after I lost my Grandma. I was so glad to reconnect with her on Facebook! I visited her at the Presbyterian Home with one of her pupils from Kemble School. I was delivering the Observer Dispatch to her at the home and it was wonderful to reconnect with her there. She is often thought of as she was a wonderful part of my childhood. I'm sending all my love to her family.

Mrs. Darling was my 6th grade teacher and she was loved by her students, including me. Later on, I enjoyed playing Words With Friends with her. I, unfortunately lost touch with her over the past few years, but I never forgot her and thought about her frequently. She will be missed.
