Carol was my friend from the time she was in 10th or 11th grade. Over the years, we have shared many good times and sad times. One of the funny ones was when she showed up for her visit over an hour late. Her excuse was that the evening before, when letting the dog out before bed, the dog started growling. So, Carol said to the dog "Sic It." So the dog did, and It was a skunk. She was up after midnight bathing the dog in tomato juice. There was no better friend than Carol. Some of the words that described Carol are, Loving, Caring, Outgoing, Fun-loving, Honest, Selfless, Hard-working and Great Mother and Friend. To all her family and friends She will be greatly missed but will always live on in our hearts.

I lived with Carol and her family during the summer of 1972. Life was simpler then, no cell phones, no seat belts. I fondly remember taking care of the livestock, baling hay, driving tractors, repairing machinery, and an abundance of other chores that made those precious days pass so quickly. I remember the "farm smells", freshly cut hay, cow manure, the smell of freshly tilled soil, and the distinct odor in the air when rain was about to fall. The work was hard but rewarding. We had milking machines, but no pipeline. We carried buckets of milk to the milkhouse and dumped them into the bulk tank by hand. I was so terrified of spilling that precious milk, and to the best of my memory I never did. Dave was easy to work for, his first rule was do not speak to him before breakfast unless it was absolutely neccessary. Carol made delicious meals and there was always plenty to eat. Also I got to drink all the raw milk I wanted, what a treat! I got to go home for the weekends because I was smitten with my brand new girlfriend. The last time I saw Carol was at my fiftieth wedding anniversary, and yes I married that same girl. I was so glad Carol made the effort to come to the party, I appreciate it even more now. Rest in Peace Carol. Sam Mead, farm hand '72.
