Obituary of Catherine Roy

Ms. Catherine Roy, 86, most recently of Little Falls, NY, passed away May 19, 2025, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY, following a brief illness.

She was born in Lewiston, Maine, and was the daughter of the late Lionel and Helen Bouchard Gaudette.

After graduating from high school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she obtained her Associate's degree. Then, in her 70s, she fulfilled her dream of obtaining her Bachelor's degree from SUNY.

Most recently, she worked as a HEAP examiner part-time in Utica, NY. Previously, she worked as a Social Worker. Catherine had also been a dairy farmer for over 25 years, but her greatest pride came from the period when she owned her own cleaning service while living in Connecticut.

For the past 16 years, she called Little Falls, NY, home. before that, she lived in Newport, NY, for about 20 years, and Litchfield, Connecticut, for many years.

While living in Connecticut, she was on the planning and zoning board and ran for 1st Selectman.

She was of Catholic faith and enjoyed bowling in a league when she was younger.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased in death by her son, Thomas Joseph Laper, September 27, 1987, and sister, Constance Verreault.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Roy and Theresa LaPera, and her husband, Bernard Dolen; grandchildren Rebecca Sachs and Daniel Sachs; niece Jennifer Verreault, nephew Thomas Verreault, and Timothy Verreault; and several cousins.

Following her wishes, all services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365.
