Obituary of Donald L. Dixon
Donald Lee Dixon, born on April 19, 1936, to Norma Beach Dixon and Chalmer Burley Dixon, has gone to be with the Lord on May 21, 2025. Don married his sweetheart, Kay Frances Williams, on February 15, 1956, in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, while serving his country in the US Army. Don was the eldest of nine children. Don is survived by his wife Kay of 69 years; his children Don Dixon Jr. and his fiancee Gayle Nicholson of Petersburgh, NY; Karen Dixon Webster of Petersburgh, NY; Vickie Dixon Robinson and her husband Bob of Phoenix, AZ; Doug Dixon and his wife Debra of Little Falls, NY; and Valerie Dixon Imbert and her husband Kevin of Waynesboro, VA. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren: Lee, Alan, Nathanael, Drew, Amanda, Erin, Jordan, Avery, Willie, Katrina, Kai, Lauren, and Jake; and 19 great-grandchildren. His love and devotion to his family were unparalleled. He was always there for school plays, mission trips, sporting events, and graduations. Visiting and seeing his family gave him much joy.
Upon completing his military service, Don graduated from Northeastern Bible Institute in Essex Fells, NJ, and Nyack Bible College in Nyack, NY. He served in New York as the pastor at Petersburg Baptist Church for 13 years and Little Falls Baptist Church for 30 years. He had a heart for people. Once he met someone, they weren’t a stranger for long. He had a passion for missions, prison outreach, his community, and caring for the aged and infirmed. His sense of humor and competition were legendary. We will miss him dearly.
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
