Obituary of Albert Healey

SALISBURY - Albert Healey, 84 of 228 Marsh Road, Dolgeville passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown. He was born on September 7, 1925 in Little Falls the son of the late Daniel and Maude (Christie) Healey. He was educated in Little Falls Schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 32 years the former Doris J. Barnes on February 11, 1977 in Salisbury Center. Mr. Healey was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy. He entered the service on September 3, 1943 in Albany. Although he served on several navel vessels he was especially proud of his assignment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31) and his tour of the Asiatic and Pacific theater. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on April 7, 1946 at Lido Beach,, LI, NY. Following his discharge from the service he returned to the area and was employed for many years by the Burrows Paper Corp., Little Falls. He later along with his wife Doris owned and operated the former Mahogany Ridge Restaurant in the Town of Salisbury for 14 years retiring in July of 1983. He was a life member of the Salisbury Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club and was a avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife Doris, his adopted daughter Delphaine Gibson, Nevada, his brother Jeremiah Healey, Mississippi, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an adopted daughter Rosemarie Harlow, 6 brothers Eugene, Robert, Daniel, Edward, James and Richard and a sister Helen Borst. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 5:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Daniel Lanza, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 3-5 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow.
