Obituary of Alice L. Guy
DOLGEVILLE Alice L. Guy, 74 of 118 Millers Grove Road, Dolgeville passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. Elizabeths Medical Center, Utica.
She was born on February 12, 1934 in the Town of Salisbury the daughter of the late William and Hazel (Boardman) Congdon and was raised by her adoptive parents George and Hazel Walrath. She was educated in Stratford schools.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 42 years Avery Guy on October 6, 1951 in Nelliston. Mr. Guy predeceased her on July 28, 1993.
She was a member of the Curtiss Corners Stone Chapel, Salisbury. A former she Sunday School teacher at the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church, Salisbury, she was also a member of the former Three Links Rebekah Lodge # 235, Little Falls.
Mrs. Guy was employed at onetime for the former Allegro Shoe Corp, Little Falls, H.P. Snyder Mfg. Co., Little Falls and the Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville and was last employed by LaSalle Labs., Little Falls.
Following her retirement she enjoyed traveling and "RVing" with her dear friend Frank Gabryszewski until his passing on May 23, 2006. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her different craft projects.
She is survived by two sons John A. Guy and his fiancé© Katie Creedon, Dolgeville and Steven L. Guy and his wife Nancy, Salisbury Center, two daughters Mary Ann Miller and her husband David, Omaha, Nebraska and Rose M. Guy and her friend Skip Darrach, St. Johnsville, her brother George Walrath and his wife Teobolina of N. Carolina, 4 sisters Margaret Nichols, Little Falls, Elsie Looman, Dolgeville, Madeline Randall, Dolgeville and Joyce Hannis, Richfield Springs, 9 grandchildren David Miller, Jr., Robert Miller, Benjamin Miller and his wife Gina, April Miller, Kari Hartman and her husband Scott, Duane Guy and his wife Vanessa, Steven Guy, Jr. and his wife Julia, Erin Vedder and her husband Todd and Brandon Broat., 8 great grandchildren Haley, Taylor and Aaron Miller, Kelsa, John and Steven Guy, Megan Hartman and Owen Vedder and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Daniel Congdon and a sister Shirley Lewis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 5:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Rodney Congdon, Pastor of the Curtiss Corners Stone Chapel officiating. Interment will take place in Curtiss Cemetery, town of Salisbury in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 3-5 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Guy be considered to the Curtiss Corners Stone Chapel, 392 Curtiss Rd., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
