Obituary of Anthony M. Grescheck

JORDANVILLE Anthony M. Grescheck 83 of 555 Travis Road, Jordanville passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown. He was born on April 22, 1926 in the Town of Stark the son of the late Lucas and Marya (Dmyterko) Grescheck. He was a graduate of Owen D. Young High School Class of 1946. He was united in marriage to his wife of 62 years the former Gertrude Mosher on June 21, 1947 at St. Marys Church Parish House, Little Falls. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls. He was also a member of the Van Hornesville Bowling League and the Van Hornesville Vol. Fire Dept for many years. He and his wife Gertrude were very active members of the Polka League and enjoyed traveling to Polka dances for over 30 years. Mr. Grescheck spent most of his life operating the family dairy farm, Hill Top Farms in Van Hornesville until 1996. Following his retirement from farming he was employed for 11 years by the NYS DEC at the Van Hornesville Fish Hatchery retiring in 2007. He is survived by his wife Gertrude, 2 sons Anthony Grescheck and his wife Theresa and Ronald Grescheck and his wife Beverly both of Jordanville, 3 daughters Linda Hoch and her husband David, Ilion, Rosie Hogan and her husband Daniel, Jordanville and Mary Grescheck and Fritz, Ft. Plain, his sister Mary Jones, Utica, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 sisters Amelia Mettot, Frances Muccia Josie McCoy and Helen Jones, a brother Michael Grescheck and 2 infant brothers Anthony and Frank Grzeszczuk. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Thomas Vail officiating. Interment will take place in Van Hornesville Cemetery, Van Hornesville. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Friday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Grescheck be considered to the Van Hornesville Vol. Fire Dept., Main St., Van Hornesville, NY 13475 or the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.
