Obituary of August (Steve) Ortlieb

MANHEIM August (Steve) Ortlieb, 94 of State Route 167, Little Falls passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 31, 2008 at his residence. He was born on December 13, 1913 in the Town of Manheim the son of the late Charles and Melvina (Haak) Ortlieb. He was educated in the Town of Manheim Rural Schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 50 years the former Edith Flood on July 21, 1954 in the Town of Manheim. Mrs. Ortlieb predeceased him on December 11, 2004. He was a past member of the Oppenheim Senior Citizens. Mr. Ortlieb was the owner and operator of a dairy farm in the Town of Manheim for many years. He is survived by his nephews Larry D. Ortlieb and his wife Barbara, Little Falls, Matthew Flood, Brooklyn, Lynn A. Ortlieb and his wife Ginny, Orange, CA, Bruce Miller and his wife Ellen, Alamo, CA, Walter Nellis, Winthrop, NY, William Ortlieb and his wife Cheryl, East Herkimer, a niece Gertrude Ortlieb, Dolgeville and many other nieces and nephews, his sister and brother in law Bernice and Henry Flood, Dolgeville, special friends Dawn and Milan Kucerak, Herkimer and Raymond and Lisa Boepple, Little Falls. He was predeceased by 5 brothers Carl, Herman, Ted, Edward and Walter Ortlieb and by 3 sisters Selma Ortlieb, Emma Hill and Elnora Nellis. Graveside services will be held at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills later in the spring. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Ortlieb be considered to the Community Animal Program (CAP), 15 Jackson St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
