Obituary of Gertrude E. Avery

OPPENHEIM- Gertrude E. Avery, 81 formerly of Oppenheim and since March 19, 2002 a resident of St. Johnsville Nursing Home, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at that residence. She was born on May 11, 1921in Little Fall the daughter of the late Carl and Ada (Sleezer) Atkins. She was educated Salisbury Rural Schools. She was united in marriage to Eustace Avery on August 21, 1937 at the Salisbury Methodist Church Parsonage, Mr. Avery predeceased her on February 23, 1996. She was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Avery was employed for many years in the housekeeping department at the Little Falls Hospital, and at onetime the former Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville and at the Oppenheim Ephrata Central School. She is survived by her 4 daughters Lois Waldron, Herkimer, Jan Krump and her husband Peter, Oppenheim, Joanne Bahr and her husband Ronald, Dolgeville, Sharon Thomas and her husband James, Oppenheim, 1 sister Evelyn Weaver, St. Johnsville, 12 Grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 3 brothers Donald Atkins, Howard Atkins and Edwin Atkins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Rev. James Thomas son-in-law to Mrs. Avery officiating. Interment will take place in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, November 8, 2002 from 5-7 pm and to attend the funeral services Saturday morning.
