Obituary of Bernice M. Walach

LITTLE FALLS Bernice M. Walach, 91 a life long resident of Little Falls passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 19, 2011 at the Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Little Falls. She was born on October 2, 1919 in Little Falls the daughter of the late George and Teofilia (Mandzin) Mulick. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1937. She was united in marriage to her husband of 67 years Michael (Mitch) Walach on September 27, 1941 at Sacred Heart Church, Little Falls. Mr. Walach predeceased her on July 12, 2009. Mrs. Walach was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls. She and her husband Mitch were avid golfers playing in numerous single and couples leagues for many years. The couple also was active in attending and teaching Polka Dances throughout the valley area and enjoyed their summer months at their home at Half Moon Beach on Piseco Lake. She was employed at onetime by the former National Automotive Fibers Co., Little Falls and for many years as the manager for the former Montgomery Ward Store, Little Falls. She was last employed as a Bank Teller, retiring from the Fleet Bank, Little Falls after over 20 years of service. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Joan and Clarence Kohn, Little Falls, 2 grandchildren Michael Kohn and his wife Heather, Little Falls and Michele Baker and her husband Maurice, Hinesberg,, VT, 2 great granddaughters Jordan Kohn and Madeline Baker, a great grandson Jay Baker, her sister Helen Winkelman, St. Johnsville and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Michael Mulick and her sisters Mary Sheehan and Josephine Mlinar and an infant sister Mary Mulick. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & John St.s, Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will take place at St. Marys Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5-7 pm and to attend the funeral services Tuesday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Walach be considered to the Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the Little Falls Food Pantry, 15 Jackson St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
