Obituary of Betty J. Harris

LITTLE FALLS- Betty J. Harris, 85 formerly of 555 East Monroe Street, Little Falls passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer where she has been a resident since July 20, 2011. She was born on October 20, 1926 in Gloversville, NY the daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Hartman) Montoney. She was a graduate of the Gloversville High School Class of 1944. She was united in marriage on August 3, 1946 to her late husband of 61 years James E. (Squeak) Harris in Gloversville, NY. Mr. Harris predeceased her on May 6, 2007. Mrs. Harris in 1969 received her license to be a Real Estate Agent and was the owner and operator of Betty J. Harris Reality, Little Falls. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls, a Matron of Auskerade Maquaes Rock City Chapter # 204 OES and a S/Sgt. of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Little Falls. She is survived by four sons Mark J. Harris and his companion Mary Duga, Dolgeville, James S. Harris, Salisbury, Kim J. Harris and his wife Terry, Newville, Todd D. Harris and his wife Melissa, Newville, two sisters Martha Brothers, OH, Marion Loux, Gloversville, 4 grandchildren Jeffrey Harris, Marcella Harris, both of Little Falls, Reyna Harris, Amanda Harris, both of Newville, three great grandchildren Brandy Serow, Jonah Ownes, Abigail Jones, two great great grandchildren Kiera and Garrett Serow and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great grandson Ryan Harris and a sister Eleanor Rorek. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Jon A. Noble of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will follow in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 12-3 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning. In lieu of flowers it is the wishes of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Harris be considered to the Valley Health Services Development Fund, 690 West German Street, Herkimer, NY. 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. Members of the Auskerada-Maquaes-Rock City Chapter #204 OES will call in a body at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm to conduct their ritualistic services.
