DOLGEVILLE - Bodo (Bud) R. Kiesel, 92 of 31 S. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville passed away Thursday, May 08, 2003 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica where he had been a patient since April 21, 2003.
He was born on July 7, 1910 in Rossieny, Russia the son of the late William E. and Olga (Youngblut) Kiesel. He came to this country in 1913. He attended of Dolgeville Schools.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 66 years the former Mildred Karpey on August 21, 1937 in Arietta. Mrs. Kiesel predeceased him on February 13, 2003.
Mr. Kiesel was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy. Entering the service on April 27, 1944 in Albany. He was honorably discharged on December 20, 1945 as a Seaman First Class at Lido Beach, LI, NY.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls. He was also an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
Mr. Kiesel was employed as a foreman for the Adirondack Bat Co., Dolgeville, retiring in 1970 after 28 years of service.
He is survived by his son Ronald W. Kiesel and his wife Jacqueline, Meredith, NH, his daughter Norma Triplett, York, PA, a granddaughter Melissa Johnson, Seven Valleys, PA and a great granddaughter Christine Johnson, Glenolden, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Adolph Kiesel, who died on August 4, 2000 and Otto Kiesel, who died in September of 1997, 2 sisters Ottelie Nicklin, who died in May of 1997 and Hilda Voorhees, who died on May 26, 2002.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2003 at 10:00 am from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 58 Albany Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector officiating. Interment for both Bud & Millie Kiesel will follow in Dolgeville Cemetery, Dolgeville.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
