Obituary of John E. Burton

LITTLE FALLS John E. Burton, 69 of 105 Sunset Circle, Little Falls passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 17, 2007 at his residence. He was born on July 10, 1938 in Ilion the son of the late Lynn and Anna (Abeling) Burton. He was educated in Ilion Schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 34 years the former Darlene R. Perry on September 1, 1973 at St. Pauls Universalist Church, Little Falls. Mr. Burton was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls, Polish Community Home, Little Falls, a past member of the Moose Lodge # 615, LOOM, Little Falls. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was especially fond of going dancing and gathering with family and friends. Mr. Burton began his career as a bag boy for the former Victory Market, later Loblaws grocery stores where he later served in various managerial positions. He retired from the Great American Store, Little Falls in 1996. He is survived by his wife Darlene, 2 sons Keith W. Burton, Little Falls and Bryan L. Burton, Little Falls, 3 brothers Harold Burton and his wife Elizabeth, New Hartford, Donald Burton, Frankfort and Kenneth Burton and his wife Nancy, Frankfort, 2 sisters Norma Forbes and her husband Robert and Shirley Hartley, both of Ilion, 2 sisters in law Ann Burton, and Linda Burton both of Frankfort, a granddaughter Kelsey A. Kane and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Burton in 2005 and a sister Lois Casaletta in 1983. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 7:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Kimberly Miner, Pastor of St. Pauls Universalist Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Dibble Tuttle Cemetery, Town of Salisbury in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Burton be considered to the American Lung Assn., 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
