Obituary of Carole M. Huxtable

LITTLE FALLS - Carole M. Huxtable, 88 of 630 E. Gansevoort Street, Little Falls and since March of 2000 a resident of the Residential Healthcare Facility at Little Falls Hospital passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at that residence. She was born on September 23, 1916 in Newark, NJ the daughter of the late Fortunato and Maria (Marano) Mazzone. At the age of 2 her family returned to Italy where she received her education. She returned to this country in 1937 and has resided here since. She was united in marriage to her husband of 60 years Robert D. Huxtable on August 19, 1944 in Newport, NY. Mrs. Huxtable was employed as a factory manager in the garment industry in New York City when she first returned to the United States. After her marriage she assisted her husband Robert and his brother in the operation of Huxtable Brothers Dairy Farm in the Town of Fairfield. After raising her family she was employed for a number of years as a tour guide and interpreter for the Herkimer Home Historic Site in the Town of Danube, demonstrating both weaving and spinning arts. She retired from there in 1982. Mrs. Huxtable was a member and past president of the board of directors of the Little Falls WCA and was active in the Foothills Council of the Girl Scouts having served as a Girl Scout leader. She is survived by her husband Robert, her daughter Teresina Huxtable - Jerling and her husband Michael, Saratoga Springs, NY, a sister Teresa Maimone and her husband Luigi, Naples, Italy and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers Salvatore, Vincenzo and Robert Mazzone and a sister Maria Fauci. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Huxtable be considered to the Friends of the Herkimer Home, 200 State Route 169, Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the Residential Healthcare facility at Little Falls Hospital, 140 Burwell Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
