Obituary of Carrie M. Underwood
ST. JOHNSVILLE - Carrie M. Underwood, 92 of Kringsbush Road, St. Johnsville passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 at her residence.
She was born on April 26, 1916 in Inghams Mills the daughter of the late Ross C. and Nina (Snell) Johnson. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School class of 1934.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 66 years Ernest M. Underwood on October 31, 1942 at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church.
She was a life member of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church and active in the womens mission of the church. She was also a member of the Auskerada-Maquaes-Rock City Chapter # 204, OES and the Fort Rensselaer Chapter of the DAR.
Mrs. Underwood was employed for 20 years as a secretary for the St. Johnsville High School.
She is survived by her husband Ernest, her son Reginald L. Underwood, Spencertown, NY, her daughter Sylvia J. McClellan and her husband Terry, Uniontown, OH, 7 grandchildren Vivecca Underwood and her husband Jon Mazella, Brian Smith, Kevin Smith and his wife Kristan, Dale McClellan and his wife Christina, Aaron McClellan, Ryan McClellan and Melissa Kimbler and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Kenneth Johnson, 1964 and Irving Johnson, 2005 and by her sister Mary Groff, 2007.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Inghams Mills Baptist Church, Inghams Mills Road, Little Falls with the Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services Thursday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Underwood be considered to the Inghams Mills Baptist Church, Inghams Mills Road, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
