Obituary of Catherine Babjar,
LITTLE FALLS Catherine Babjar, 91 formerly of 72 Center Street, Little Falls and since November of 2003 a resident of the Martin Luther Home, Clinton passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 at that residence.
She was born on September 9, 1916 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Paul and Katherine (Krisko) Babjar. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1934, as well as a graduate of the Prospect Heights School of Nursing, Brooklyn Class of 1937. She served on the Prospect Heights Board of Directors as a Registered Nurse representing the school of nursing. She was also the treasurer of the School of Nursing Alumni Association for many years.
Miss. Babjar was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army Nurse Corps. Entering the service on March 15, 1944 she served with the 830th Medical Air Evacuation Squadron as a Flight Nurse. She was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant on May 3, 1946 at Ft. Dix, NJ.
Prior to her military career Miss. Babjar served as a licensed X-Ray Technician, Registered Nurse, Registered Professional Occupational Health Nurse, she began her career as an Occupational Nurse for the Matam Corp., Long Island City, NY and as a staff nurse from 1938-1940 at Queens General Hospital in the Trauma Dept. and later as a staff nurse at Gluckner Hospital, Colorado Springs., CO and the University of San Francisco while touring the United States. Following her military service she was employed for over 18 years as Supervising Nurse in the Medical Dept. of City Services Corp., New York City until the company relocated to Tulsa, OK in 1974. She then became in charge of the medical dept. for Associated Merchandising Corp., New York City until 1977 when she returned to Little Falls to care for her parents.
She is survived by cousins John Babjar, Danville, Calif. and Steve Babjar, Lebanon, OR, Steve Bachorik, Little Falls, Christine and Anne Vdoviak, and her dear friend Leo Holland, Pensacola, FL.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls with the Rev. Michael Jones officiating.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
