Obituary of Cecil J. Denton

SALISBURY - Cecil J. Denton, 72 of 122 Jerseyfield Road, Salisbury passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 31, 2004 at his residence. He was born on June 8, 1932 in Sodom, NY the son of the late Clifford and Margaret (Moorehouse) Denton. He was educated in Lake George Rural Schools. He was a member of the Curtis Corners Stone Chapel, Salisbury. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed cutting and splitting fire wood. But his greatest pleasure was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Mr. Denton was employed most of his life in the logging industry. He was later employed as a grounds keeper for the Green Mansion Estates, Lake George and was a truck driver for Congdon Logging, Salisbury for several years. He was last employed by North Hudson Woodcraft, Dolgeville. Retiring in 1994. He is survived by 2 sons Kenneth J. Denton and his wife Mina , North Hampton, NY and Thomas W. Denton and his wife Crystal, Booneville, NY, a daughter Mary E. Congdon and her husband John, Salisbury, 3 sisters Myrtle Pryor, Holland Patent, NY, Helen Colcu, Florida and Margie Harris, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brother James and George Denton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Rodney Congdon, Pastor of the Curtiss Corners Stone Chapel officiating. Interment will take place in Curtiss Cemetery, Town of Salisbury in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Thursday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Denton be considered to the Curtiss Corners Stone Chapel, 392 Curtis Road, Little Falls, NY 13365.
