Sophia D. Celebi Little Falls- Sophia D. Celebi, 87 formerly of Little Falls and 113 Eastwood Drive, East Herkimer passed away Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Valley Health Services where she has been a resident since October 29, 2003. She was born May 13, 1918 in Fairmont, West Virginia the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Teletnick) Duchnycz. She was educated in the Herkimer Schools. She was united in marriage to her husband John Peter Celebi on September 25, 1954 in Perth, New York. Mr. Celebi predeceased her on August 20, 1975. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish of Little Falls and to the Rosarians. Mrs. Celebi was employed as a tea packer by the Salada Foods Company of Little Falls. She retired in 1983 after 21 years of service. Mrs. Celebi had deep love and devotion to her family. She found great peace and enjoyment in her cooking, baking and gardening. She is survived by 2 daughters Margaret Burling and her husband Andrew Lindenmayer, Little Falls and Ann Getman and her husband Ronald, Columbia, South Carolina, a grandson Marc Burling, a granddaughter Melissa Burling, both of Little Falls, a brother Andrew Dunchnycz, Herkimer, a sister-in-law Olga Celebi, Little Falls and her special canine grandchild Buddy. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Mary Warner and Catherine Dunchnycz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend prayer services on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Sister Sharon Ann Boyd of Hospice Care Inc. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer with the Rev. Anthony Ligato of the Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Celebi be considered to the Valley Health Services, Inc., 690 West German Street, Herkimer, NY. 13350 or to the Hospice Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY. 13413. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend and special thank you to the entire staff and administration of Valley Health Services and Hospice Care, Inc. for their kindness and compassion shown to Mrs. Celebi and her family.
