Obituary of Betty A. Coffin

LITTLE FALLS - Betty A. Coffin , 75 a long time resident of Lower Paradise Road, Town of Danube and more recent of 760 E. Monroe St., Ext (Valley View Crts), Little Falls passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born on February 12, 1930 in Auburn, NY the daughter of the late Clifford M. and Eliza (Looman) Darling. She was educated in Northville, Stratford Schools and Little Falls High School. She was united marriage to her husband of 57 year John R. Coffin, Sr. on June 26, 1948 at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish of Little Falls. As well as a member of the Danube Chat & Chew Club and the Owl's Club of Danube. She was employed at one time by various dress factories in the area and by the former Allegro Shoe Corp., Little Falls. Mrs. Coffin was well known in the area for her cake decorating business which she operated from her home for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband John R. Sr., a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer, 3 sons Clifford Coffin Sr., and his wife Linda, Cedarville, Robert Coffin, Canajoharie, and John R. Coffin, Jr., Canajoharie, 2 daughters Donna Blakeslee and her husband Gary, Amsterdam and Lucinda Richards and her husband Kevin, Little Falls, a brother Harry Darling and his wife Marlyn, St. Johnsville, a sister Gladys O'Neil and her husband George, Little Falls, a brother in law Edwin Coffin and his wife Nancy, Herkimer, a sister in law Patricia Lynch, Little Falls, 11 grandchildren Clifford and Trudy Coffin, Daniel & Bobbilee Coffin, Jeremy Blakeslee, Steven Stephanie Blakeslee, John and Heather Blakeslee, Ryan Coffin, Teresa Coffin, Kaleb Coffin Joshwa Coffin, Robert Richards, and Cheyenne Richards, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Howard M. Darling, Sr., who died on March 11, 2004 and by a granddaughter Eliza Faye Richards, who died on July 5, 1993. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & John St.'s, Little Falls where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by The Reverend Anthony Ligato. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Thursday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Coffin be considered to the Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to Valley Health Services, 690 W. German St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
