Obituary of David G. Hayes
ST. JOHNSVILLE- David G. Hayes, 68, of Crum Creek Road went home to be with Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his residence in the presence of his loving family.
He was born on June 26, 1943, the son of the late Alfred and Marguerite (Mosher) Hayes. He was educated in St. Johnsville schools.
He was united in marriage to his wife the former Janey Claus on November 9, 1963 at Crum Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Herman Briele. The couple shared a devoted, loving and diligent marriage for 48 years.
He was a member and board member of the Crum Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was baptized, married and all his children were baptized. He was proud to take part in boy scouts, FFH and 4-H. His most passionate pastimes were restoring antique tractors and for years collecting antique horse equipment for his two beautiful Belgium work horses Sony and Jim. As a Mosher descendent, David loved spending time with his family and showing people his much loved farms. He also enjoyed producing maple syrup.
David for 52 years was a "Stewart of the earth" and a dairy farmer on Mill Road, Richards Road, Youkers Bush and Crum Creek Road where he restored his maternal grand fathers homestead, The Eugene Mosher Farm.
He is survived by his wife Janey, 2 sons David E. Hayes and his fiancé© Denise Snell, Adam B. Hayes and his wife Tara, both of St. Johnsville, 3 daughters Mindy Mackesey and her husband Tim, Altamont, NY, Melissa and Molly Hayes, St. Johnsville, 2 sisters Katherine Williams and her husband Robert, Palatine Bridge, Debra Test and her husband Fred, Dolgeville, 6 grandchildren Shannon Mackesey, Kyle and Austin Hayes, Seth Bly, Ian and Taylor Hayes and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Crum Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, County Highway 108, St. Johnsville, NY. 13452 with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 North Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. 13365 on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 1-4 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday at 2:00 PM.
