Obituary of Dean L. Morey,
LITTLE FALLS - Dean L. Morey, 91 of State Route 169, Little Falls passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 in the Town of Norway enjoying one of his many hunting trips.
He was born on August 22, 1917 in Newport the son of the late Grove C. and Mable (Lindsay) Morey. He was educated in Newport and Vernon Schools.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 49 years the former Margaret Kiley on May 23,1942 in Herkimer. Mrs. Morey predeceased him on January 16, 1991.
Mr. Morey was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy. Entering the service on October 9, 1944. He was honorably discharged as a Machinist Mate Second Class on March 16, 1946.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Little Falls, as well a life member of the National Rifle Association.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed deer and turkey hunting. He also enjoyed gardening and working around his home
Mr. Morey was employed for 36 years as a service technician for the former Gregg Appliance Store, Herkimer retiring in 1981. He was also employed at onetime by the Remington Arms Co., Ilion.
He is survived by 2 daughters Mardean Euron and her husband Fred, Stratford and Dawn Pinkley and her husband John, Fredericktown, MO, a sister Leola Marino, Little Falls with whom he resided, 4 grandchildren Deanne Krywka and Nick, Stratford, Kathleen Van Buskirk and her husband Roderick, Pleasant Hill, CA, Gerald Pinkley and his wife Sherry, Fredericktown, MO and Sandra Martin and her husband Ted, Fredericktown, MO, 9 great grandchildren Kiley and Nash Krywka, Cole and Mikelle Van Buskirk, Austin and Drew Martin and Samantha, Ethan and Kayla Pinkley and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Morey in 1991 and a sister Doris Maxwell in 1989.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Donald L. Dixon, Pastor Emeritus and Rev. Christopher Wintermute, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 3-6 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning.
