Obituary of Derek C. Martin

ROME - Derek C. Martin, 29 formerly of Rome and recently of Long Beach, CA passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in Long Beach. He was born on August 6, 1977 in New Orleans, LA where he lived as a child in the French Quarter. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA and served 4 years in the US Navy. Derek was employed as a Lead A & F Mechanic for Empire Aero Center, Rome for the past 3 years prior to relocating to California. He is survived by his mother Rachel Merino Martin and his father Joseph Martin, both of Long Beach, CA, his grandmother Mary Nicolella, Rome, NY, his brother Randy Adams, Long Beach, CA, his aunt Patricia Manners, California, his uncle Henry Nicolella, Syracuse, NY and his girlfriend Jennifer Wilson, Rome, NY. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Adams, who died in February 2006. Derek will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and good hearted man. He will be missed by many and remembered for the positive way he touched every person that had the good fortune to be part of his life. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 10:30 am from the St. John the Baptist Church, 200 Dominick St., Rome, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Rome. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Derek be made to the family who will distribute them to his favorite charities. Envelopes will be available for this purpose. Following the services at the cemetery relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of fellowship to be held at DeMatteo's Restaurant, 705 E. Dominick St., Rome. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls.
