Obituary of Donna C. Nicholson

HERKIMER Donna C. Nicholson, 79 of 232 Burt Road, Herkimer passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community, Utica. She was born on August 23, 1931 in Chanute, Kansas the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Culver) Cummings. She was a graduate of Southard, OK High School. She was married at onetime to the father of her children Bob Cooper of Florence, CO. The widow of the late William Norton of Ithaca, NY and the late Charles Nicholson of Okeene, OK. Mrs. Nicholson was employed as a secretary for the NASA Ames Research Center, Palo Alto, CA and later as a secretary and bookkeeper for the architect firm of Ray DiPasquale & Associates, Ithaca, NY until her retirement in 1980. Upon her retirement she relocated back to Oklahoma where she had resided as a child and remained their until 1993, returning to resided with her daughter Sharon in Herkimer. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling, gardening and quilting. Making quilts for many of her family and friends. She is survived by her son Jerry Cooper and his wife Joanne, Pueblo West, CO, her daughter Sharon Giammaria and her husband Thomas, Herkimer, her brother William Cummings and his wife Trudy, Apache Junction, AZ, her sister Jackie Cummings, Arizona, three grandchildren Nicholas Giammaria (Karen), Boston, MA, Steven Giammaria (Greta), Hoboken, NJ and Joshua Cooper (Kristi), Pueblo West, CO, two great grandchildren Haley and Zachary Cooper and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Roy Cummings. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Nicholson be considered to the Masonic Care Community, 2150 Bleecker St., Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
