Obituary of Melissa A. Dykeman

SALISBURY CENTER -Melissa A. Dykeman, 37 of 244 Irondale Road, Salisbury Center passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Little Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 22, 1967 in Little Falls the daughter of Sidney and Norma (Lamphere) Comstock of Salisbury. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School Class of 1985 as well as a recent graduate of Herkimer County Community College where 2 weeks ago she received her AAS Degree in Early Childhood Development. Melissa had maintained a 4.0 average throughout her studies. She was united in marriage to David R. Dykeman on August 16, 1986 at the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church, Salisbury. She was of the Christian Faith. Melissa was presently employed as a Child Advocate for the Dolgeville Central School Head Start program. She was previously employed by the Dolgeville School system as a Teachers Assistant. She is survived by her parents Sidney and Norma Comstock, Salisbury, her husband David, her 2 sons David J. Dykeman and Anthony M. Dykeman both at home, 2 sisters Lori Lee Stoehrer and her husband Bob, Salisbury and Lee Ann Gonyea and her husband Greg, Dolgeville, her mother in law Linda Dykeman, Little Falls, many loving sister in laws, brother in laws and family as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father in law David Arthur Dykeman, who died on July 14, 2003. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 6:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, with the Rev. Rodney Congdon, Pastor of the Curtis Corners Stone Chapel, Salisbury officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, April 28, 2005 from 4-6 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Melissa be considered to the David & Anthony Dykeman Trust Fund, c/o Mrs. Lee Ann Gonyea, 8 Mutchler St., Dolgeville, NY 13329. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to thank the ICU and 3rd Floor nursing staff and Little Falls Hospital for their care and compassion. The would also like to thank the teachers and staff of Dolgeville Central Schools for all of their help and kindness shown to Melissa and her family.
