Obituary of Earl H. Quinn

LITTLE FALLS Earl H. Quinn, 91, of 590 E. Gansevoort Street, Little Falls passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 4, 1921 in Little Falls, the son of the late Henry and Mae (Wilson) Quinn. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School class of 1941. Earl was united in marriage to his wife of 68 years, the former Natalie Ferguson on March 27, 1944 at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls. Mr. Quinn was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Coast Guard on board the USS Vance. Entering the service on August 13, 1942, he was honorably discharged on December 8, 1945. He was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls and served as vestryman for many years. He was also a life member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612,VFW, Little Falls, a life member of the Kopco-Hunnington Spirit of 76 O.E.S., the Mohawk Valley Square Dance Club, a member of the Little Falls now Dolgeville Masonic Lodge # 796 F&AM and was the recipient of the Dedicated Service Award through the Little Falls Masonic Lodge on February 4, 1985 and the distinguished service award from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls. Mr. Quinn was employed for many years by the former Cherry-Burrell Corp., Little Falls and later by the General Electric Co., Utica. He was last employed by the Remington Arms Corp., Ilion retiring as a maintenance electrician in May of 1985. He is survived by his wife Natalie, his daughter Shelley Quinn-Scarano and his son-in- law Dominick Scarano, Little Falls, 6 grandchildren Karen Dexter Angeley (Mike), Bethany Dexter Cristman, Jonathan Dexter (Malyn), Aaron OBryan (Melissa Smith), Rory OBryan (Tracey) and Natalia Scarano Jodway (Adam), 9 great grandchildren, Randy and Laura Angeley, Taiylor and Connor Christman, Austin and Coy Dexter, Morgan and Quinn OBryan, Jordan OBryan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Deborah Quinn Dexter on October 14, 1988, a granddaughter Lindsey Michelle OBryan on March 15, 1979 and by his sister Jessie Mosher on October 2, 2000. Earl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a model of how to live a joyous Christian life. Earl could find something to smile about, even when others could not. He lived to care and give to his family and friends. Even the last several months, as his health declined, he was a blessing to those taking care of him; always thanking them for taking care of him and teaching everyone how to leave this life with grace and dignity. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service for Earl on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, E. Albany St., Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia officiating. There will be a gathering for family and friends following the service in the Parish Hall. . Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Quinn be considered to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 E. Albany Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
