Obituary of Edward R. Petkovsek, Sr
SALISBURY CENTER - Edward R. Petkovsek, Sr., 62 loving father, husband and gramps passed away at home on Thursday, September 16, 2004. He resided at 166 State Route 29A, Dolgeville (Town of Salisbury).
Ed was born in Little Falls on October 31, 1941 the son of the late Frank and Stella (Nalaskowski) Petkovsek, Jr. He attended Little Falls and Dolgeville Schools and was a member of both the 1960 - 1961 classes.
He was united in marriage to the former Marlene M. Dineen on August 2, 1976 in Sanford, Maine.
Ed was a life long communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Dolgeville.
A dairy farmer his whole life he was the owner and operator of Manheim Farms. He retired in August of 1994 due to failing health.
Ed was an internationally recognized breeder of Registered Holsteins. He was a member of the OHM Holstein Club, National & New York State Holstein Associations, National Farmers Organization, Northeast DHIA, Cooperative Extension, Manheim Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club - Past President, and served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Land Bank..
He is survived by his wife Marlene, along with five children Melissa & Jason Frasier, Johnstown, Amy & James Murphy, Little Falls, Bethany & Daniel Straney, St. Johnsville, Edward Jr. & Stephanie Petkovsek, Enfield, Conn. and Adam Petkovsek, at home. Five grandchildren, Zachary Swank, Madison Frasier, Carlin and Shayna Straney and Patrick Murphy, two brothers and a sister and several nieces and nephews.. He was predeceased by an older brother Frank Petkovsek, III, a son Patrick and a nephew Nathaniel.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2004 at 10:00 am from St. Joseph's Church, N. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Sunday, September 19, 2004 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning.
