Obituary of Eleanor E. Johnson
INGHAMS MILLS Eleanor E. Johnson 83 formerly of 770 County Highway 108, St. Johnsville (Inghams Mills) passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home where she had been a resident since November of 2007.
She was born on July 20, 1926 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Hezekiah and Gertrude (Snell) Eaker. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School Class of 1944.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 57 years Irving D. Johnson on June 12, 1948 at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson predeceased her on November 28, 2005.
Mrs. Johnson was a life long member of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church, where over the years she served as the financial secretary, Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir and was also active in the church womens mission. She was also served as the secretary treasurer of the Rural Park Cemetery Association for many years.
For many years with her husband Irving she assisted in the operation of the family dairy farm in Inghams Mills. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and spending her time with her family and friends.
She is survived by 2 sons and daughters in law Donald I. Johnson and Phyllis, Little Falls and Lance R. Johnson and Valedine, Inghams Mills, 2 daughters and sons in law Sarah J. Minarick and Michael, Omaha, Nebraska and Alice J. Hannon and Daniel, Salem, New Hampshire, a sister Betty Hayes, Little Falls, 8 grandchildren Jill Miller and her husband Ben, Gretna, Neb., Joseph Minarick, Omaha, Neb., Wendy Johnson, Boston, MA, Kelly Johnson and her fiancé© Justin Daukontas, Inghams Mills, Melanie Johnson, Inghams Mills, Ross Johnson, Inghams Mills, Benjamin Hannon, and Jane Hannon, both of Salem, NH, a great granddaughter Brooklyn Miller and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Leslie Eaker on December 30, 1981 and 4 sisters Blanche Tripp on April 12, 1995, Margery Holmberg on September 21, 1988, Cora Hayes on July 12, 1997 and Alma Montana on July 25, 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Inghams Mills Baptist Church with the Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church on Monday, October 12, 2009 from 10-11 am and to attend the funeral services to follow.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls.
In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Johnson be considered to the Inghams Mills Baptist Church, c/o Donald Johnson, 920 Snells Bush rd., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, 7 Timmerman St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452.
