Obituary of Eleanor R. Leon

LITTLE FALLS Eleanor R. Leon, 88 formerly of Valley View Courts, Little Falls and since May of 2012 a resident of the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at that residence. She was born of May 1, 1924 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Walter and Emma (Phillips) Pettengill. She was educated in Little Falls and Buffalo Schools. She was united in marriage to her husband of 53 years Charles H. Leon, Jr. on March 24, 1951 at the First Baptist Church, Little Falls. Mr. Leon predeceased her on July 17, 2004. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Little Falls and a past member of the Ilion Vol. Fire Co., Ladies Auxiliary. During World War II Mrs. Leon was employed in aircraft parts manufacturing in Buffalo and later at Roswell Park Hospital, Buffalo. She was last employed as an inspector for the former Daniel Green Shoe Co., Dolgeville. She is survived by 3 sons Charles W. Leon (Robin), Herkimer, William D. Leon (Crystal), Little Falls and Scott S. Leon (Kathleen Ball), Frankfort, a daughter Elaine Burgess, Herkimer, her sister Rosemarie Abamoussa, Knoxville, TN, 4 grandchildren Heidi Leon, John Youker (Kathy), David Youker and William D. Leon, Jr., 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson Walter Leon. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00 am from the First Baptist Church, 555 Albany Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Christopher Wintermute, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Stratford Cemetery, Town of Salisbury at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
