Obituary of Elizabeth S. Grose
LITTLE FALLS - Elizabeth (Betty) S. Grose, 85 of 43 Sherman Street, Little Falls passed away Tuesday evening, July 10, 2007 at the Folts Home, Herkimer surrounded by her loving family..
She was born on October 19, 1921 in the town of Stark, the daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Boor) Sterusky. She was educated in the town of Manheim rural schools and Little Falls High School.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 62 years William J. Grose, Sr. on July 9, 1942 at St. Mary's Church Parish House, Little Falls. Mr. Grose predeceased her on August 29, 2004.
She was a member of the Holy Family Parish of Little Falls. As well as a member of the Royal Neighbors Chapter # 5278, Little Falls. She also volunteered at the lunch program at Rockton Plaza, Little Falls for many years.
Mrs. Grose enjoyed gardening and the many years she spent helping on the Sterusky Dairy farm in the town of Manheim. As well as caring for her grandchildren and family members when they were young.
She is survived by her son Charles P. Grose and his wife Marie, Schuyler, her daughter Betty Ann Nellis and her husband Richard, Herkimer, her daughter in law Joan Grose, Little Falls, her sister Katherine Robbins, Seneca Castle, NY, 5 grandchildren Monica Grose and her husband Daniel Powell, Springfield, VA, Vicki Atlas and her husband Kenneth, Harwinton, CT, Stephanie Smith and her husband Kristopher, Charlotte, NC, Mary Eckler and her husband George, Schuyler and Charles P. Grose, Schuyler, 5 great grandchildren, her dear cousin Jean Fogarty, Little Falls and her son Andrew Fogarty, Albany and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son William J. Grose, Jr., who died on March 29, 2007, and by 6 brothers Stephen, Martin, Paul, George, Samuel and John Sterusky, and by a sister Anna Mocko.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ of the Holy Family Parish, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Friday morning.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Grose be considered to the American Diabetes Association, 110 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
