Obituary of Elizabeth (Betty) S. Harrod

LITTLE FALLS - Elizabeth S. Harrod, 78 of 1322 Shells Bush Road, Little Falls was at home when she was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. A lifelong Little Falls resident, Betty was born on March 5, 1931, the daughter of the late Albert and Izetta (Carney) Stahl and graduated from Little Falls High School class of 1949. On October 14, 1950 Betty married Leland Harrod, the love of her life in St. Marys Church in Little Falls. She was a member of Holy Family Parish Church and past member of the Rosarians of that church. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family and friends, including her belief that there was always room for more of each. She leaves her family with the knowledge that they were truly loved and that they in turn understood the depth of her faith and how much she loved the Lord. Always together, Betty and Lee enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. Following retirement in 1989 from Herkimer County Community College where she was employed 22 years as Secretary to the President, many wonderful memories were made touring national parks and historic sites throughout the US and Canada. Betty is survived by her husband Leland, three cherished daughters and their spouses; Kathleen and Roger Bird of Minoa, Cynthia and David Dupont of Poland, Linda and Don Geesler of Little Falls, and daughter-in-law Dian Harrod of Poland. Grandchildren LeeAnn and Michael Kraszewski of Poland, Brian and Kim Harrod of Mohawk, Laura and Lance Stolp of East Syracuse, Chrissy Goodman and Eric Mercia of Minoa, Michael and Jessica Farber of Herkimer, Melissa and Trever Norman of Cortland and Eric and Amy Bird of Watertown. Great-grandchildren, Emma Kraszewski, Shana and Reese Harrod, Taylor and Lauren Stolp, Abigail Farber, Lukas Norman, and Carter Bird. Two sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene and George Bundick of Little Falls, and Beverly Casadonte of Whitesboro, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son William E. Harrod on January 28, 2004. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & John St.s, Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Vail. Interment will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Town of Herkimer at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N.
