Obituary of Ellis G. Bruce

DOLGEVILLE - Ellis G. Bruce, 67 of 13 Gibson Street, Dolgeville passed away, Sunday, September 2, 2007. He was born on March 22, 1940 in Marlboro, Vermont the son of Natalie (Sargent) Bruce and the late Everett Bruce. He was graduate of Brattleboro, VT High School. He was united in marriage to his wife of 47 years the former Janice Clayton on July 9, 1960 at the Baptist Church of Manchester, VT. Mr. Bruce was a veteran of the US Air Force. Entering the service on July 9, 1959 in Springfield, MA. He was honorably discharged as an Airman Second Class on July 8, 1963. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Dolgeville. Mr. Bruce for many years owned and operated a dairy farm on the Johnnycake Road in the town of Danube. After leaving farming he began the Alpine Auto Mall on State Route 5, Little Falls which he operated for 15 years before the business was destroyed by fire in July of 2003. He is survived by his mother Natalie Bruce, Ocoee, FL, his wife Janice, 3 sons Rodney Bruce, and his wife Debbie, Rome, Devin Bruce and his wife Keri, Ilion and Benjamin Bruce and his wife Jessica, Dolgeville, a daughter Wanda Kenyon and her husband Kenneth, Little Falls, 2 brothers Eugene Bruce and his wife Alice, Houston, TX and Irvin Bruce and his wife Nancy, Chesterfield, NH, 3 sisters Virginia Cabana and her husband Earl, Wilmington, VT, Shirley Sanville, Acworth, NH and Sally Trocola, Rochester, NH, 7 grandchildren Andrew Kenyon and his wife Tracy, Dolgeville, Charity Villeneuve and her husband Bruce, Hannah Gage and her husband Jack, Justin, Timothy and Cassandra Broadbent and Brianna Bruce, 4 great grandchildren Alexander Johnson, Gabrielle and Ryleigh Kenyon and Xander Gage and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 11:00 am from the Grace Baptist Church, 12 Van Buren St., Dolgeville with the Rev. Lenny Byerly, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Thursday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Bruce be considered to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Doug and Julie Puritan and Hospice Care, Inc. for their assistance in helping to care for Mr. Bruce over the last several weeks.
