Obituary of Eric J. Loucks
LITTLE FALLS Eric J. Loucks, 57 Assistant Chief / Paramedic (Retired) City of Little Falls Fire Dept. passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Albany Medical Center, Albany.
He was born on September 16, 1955 in Little Falls the son of the late Adolph C and Anne (Bilek) Loucks. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School and attended Graham Jr. College in Boston, MA for communications.
Eric was appointed to the position of Fire Fighter with the City of Little Falls Fire Dept. in 1983 and went on to receive his training to become a NYS EMT and eventually after years of dedicated study becoming and AEMT / Paramedic. He advanced his fire service education in numerous disciplines and was promoted to the rank of 2nd Assistant Chief in 1989 and 1st Assistant Chief in 2001. He continued to serve in that capacity until his retirement from the department in 2003.
During his years with the City of Little Falls and following his retirement Eric was a well known instructor for Faxton-St. Lukes EMS Education. His passion for excellent patient care motivated him to train thousands of Police, Fire and EMS providers whose training touched the lives of countless patients and their families.
For many years Eric was also employed as an attendant and tow truck operator for the former Carls Citgo Station, Little Falls.
He was a member of the IAFF, Little Falls Local 2966, Board member of the Mid-State Regional EMS Council, NYS Association of Fire Chiefs and a proud member of the National Hot Rod Association. When he was not working or teaching Eric enjoyed listening to music and was always eager to try out the latest electronic technology and gadgets. But his true passion was for everything about cars and drag racing, where he enjoyed traveling to the different races around the country and learning about the latest advances in automotive technology.
Eric was predeceased by his parents and his brother Craig C. Loucks in 2007. He is survived by several cousins and many dear and close friends and collogues.
In keeping with his wishes Graveside Memorial Services will be held at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls at a time and date to be announced in the spring.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
