Obituary of Evelyn Schall Battelini
LITTLE FALLS - Evelyn Schall Battelini, 94 of Schalls Hollow Road, Little Falls passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on February 9, 1912 in the Town of Danube the daughter of the late Frank D. and Daisey A. (Brace) Schall. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1929.
She was married at onetime to Earl W. Fake. On July 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Joseph C. Battelini at the United Methodist Church parsonage, Little Falls. The couple shared a union of 41 years before his passing on February 11, 1989.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer/Little Falls, where she served at onetime as treasurer for 6 years and for a brief time taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Battelini was employed for 40 years in the shoe manufacturing industry in the valley. She began working for the former Melrose Slipper Co., in 1936 and was employed there for 13 years until their closing. She later worked for the former Felt Shoe Co., for 13 years and was last employed for 15 years by the former Allegro Shoe Corp., Little Falls retiring in 1976. She also worked as an election inspector for the town of Danube for several years.
She enjoyed having her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren drop by to visit her and gather around for family outings. Among her hobbies were her flowerbeds and sewing, making many beautiful clothes for members of her family and friends. Riding the lawnmower and weed eating her yard which was a challenge and she continued to do this until she was 90 years old. Her biggest joy was ridding her "horse" (a Polaris four-wheeler) around the farm. Which she did until she was 94 and a half.
She is survived by her 2 sons Earl Karlton Fake and his wife Donna, Dearborn Heights, MI, D. William Fake and his wife Alice, Dolgeville, a daughter Evelyn Molinaro and her husband Ronald, Sebastian, FL, a step son Raymond C. Battelini and his wife Alexandra, Charlotte, NC and a step daughter Barbara Curcio and her husband Vincent, Vineland, NJ., 7 grandchildren Earl William Fake, Deborah Fake, Lorraine Marie Fake, Judith Elaine Fake, Edward Karlton Fake, Brian Molinaro and Michael Molinaro, 11 great grandchildren, Jessica and Briana Mott, Kateri and Thomas Molinaro, Jacqueline and Karlton Fake, Patrick, Madeleine and Colin Schneeberger, Erica and Mitchell Murdie, 6 step grandchildren, Raymond Battelini Jr., Jeffrey Battelini, Deborah Curcio, Rosemary Curcio, Caroline Curcio and Vincent Curcio, 11 step great grandchildren Litton, Andrew, Nicholas and Benjamin Battelini, Erin and Dona Rose Polo, Dustin and Gina Marie Ridolfo, Brandon, Nicholas and Jana Marie Curcio and a step great great grandchild, Ciara Ridolfo, a niece Linda Mosher and her husband Glen, Little Falls. She was predeceased by her brother Frank C. Schall, who died on May 27, 1987.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Monday, November 27, 2006 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Tuesday morning.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Battelini be considered to the First Untied Methodist Church of Herkimer/Little Falls, 127 Prospect St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
