Obituary of Francis C. (Fuzz) Wagner
MOORESVILLE, NC Francis C. (Fuzz) Wagner, 77 of 378 Indian Trail, Mooresville, NC passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008 after a long courageous battle with cancer at the Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, NC. His loving family was at his side.
He was born on July 4, 1930 in Little Falls the son of the late Walter and Lela (Miller) Wagner. He was a graduate of Dolgeville High School class of 1947.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 54 years the former Phyllis Seeley on November 21, 1953 in Dolgeville.
Mr. Wagner was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Marine Corps. First entering the service on August 3, 1948 in Albany. He was honorably discharged on August 2, 1949 but was recalled to active duty on September 3, 1949 serving with the Aircraft Maintenance Co. at Cherry Point, NC. He was honorably discharge as a Sergeant on April 17, 1952.
Mr. Wagner was a 25 year member of the New York State Police. He began his career at the Troop D Station in Minetto later serving with Troop E in Canandaigua and Troop C in Fonda. He retired as a Sergeant and Station Commander of the Troop D, Herkimer Station in 1977. He was later employed for several years as a security guard for the Remington Arms Co., Ilion.
In 1987 he and his wife Phyllis relocated to Ormond Beach, Florida where they resided for 20 years. In 2006 the couple relocated to North Carolina where they have since resided.
Mr. Wagner was an avid boater, who also enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years. He took great pride in his family and enjoyed time spent together. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and wit.
A devoted and loving husband and father he is survived by his wife Phyllis, two daughters Patricia Jackson and her husband David, Ormond Beach, FL and Nancy Tangorra and her husband Frank, Herkimer, his 5 beloved grandsons Craig and James Tangorra and Ryan, Mark and Scott Jackson, a sister Dorothy Perry, Orlando, Fl and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Mr. Wagners wishes cremation took place in North Carolina.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, town of Salisbury in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 10 - 11 am and to attend the services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Wagner be considered to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
