Frederick V. Herringshaw LITTLE FALLS - Frederick V. Herringshaw, 81 of 339 Lower Paradise Road, Little Falls passed away Monday, July 7, 2003 at Little Falls Hospital where he had been a patient since June 28, 2003. He was born on November 27, 1921 in Little Falls son of the late Fred and Naomi (Rathbun) Herringshaw. He was educated in Paines Hollow Rural Schools. He was united in marriage to the former Katherine Adamek on July 5, 1942 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Mr. Herringshaw was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. Entering the service on August 27, 1942 at Camp Upton, NY. He served with the 224th Army Air Force Base Unit. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1945 as a Private First Class at the Army Air Forces Separation Center, Sioux City, Iowa. Mr. Herringshaw was a member and trustee of the Newville Union Church. He also served at onetime as a committeeman for the former GLF, was past chairman of the Herkimer Agway and committeeman for the Fort Plain Agway Petroleum. Served as President of the Eastern Milk Producers Local. A member of the Farm Bureau, served as chairman at onetime of the Herkimer County Soil and Water Committee, Committeeman of the Eastern Artificial Breeders Association, a member of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls, the Elk's Lodge # 1444 B.P.O.E, Ilion, an over 50 year member of the Grange beginning with the Little Falls Grange, later the Nowadaga Grange and was a charter member of the Salisbury Center Grange. He served as the Town of Danube Assessor for 15 years and was honored as the oldest active dairy farmer in Herkimer County several years ago at the Herkimer County Fair. He was the owner and operator along with his wife Katherine of the Friendly Acres Dairy Farm on Paradise Road in the town of Danube. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Katherine, 3 sons Frederick P. Herringshaw and his wife Marylee, James D. Herringshaw and his wife Linda and Jay Herringshaw all of Little Falls, a daughter Katherine M. Congdon and her husband O.J., Johnstown, a sister Vera Mosher, Little Falls, 10 grandchildren Shelley Smith, Michael McCully, Tamicia Mailloux, Frank Herringshaw, Michael Herringshaw, Melissa Peruzzi, James, Jason, Courtney and Jay Herringshaw, 14 great grandchildren Shauna and Taylor Smith, Holly and Michael McCully, Erica and Dylan Mailloux, Matthew, Alexander, Nicholas, Anna and Jonathan Herringshaw, Hayley and Mckenna Peruzzi and Carlee Sullivan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Herringshaw. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Chaplain Ralph Horender officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills where Full Military Honors will be accorded. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, July 10, 2003 from 2:30 - 4:00 & 6-9 pm and to attend the funeral services on Friday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Herringshaw be considered to the Little Falls Hospital, 140 Burwell St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the Newville Union Church, 339 Lower Paradise Rd., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. Members of the American Legion Post # 31 will call in a body on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm to pay their respects. Members of the Elk's Lodge # 1444 B.P.O.E., Ilion will call in a body on Thursday Evening at 7:00 pm to conduct their ritualistic services.
