Obituary of Frederick Voorhees

ILION - Frederick Voorhees, 69 of 250 S. Fourth Ave., Ilion passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Faxton St. Lukes Hospital, New Hartford. He was born on May 13, 1939 in Dolgeville the son of the late Herman W. and Hilda (Kiesel) Voorhees. He was educated at Dolgeville High School. He was united in marriage to his wife of 13 years the former Nancy J. Navan on August 3, 1996 in Ilion. Mr. Voorhees was a life member of the Marine Corps League, Ilion as well as a member of Moose Lodge, Ilion. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 38 years in the woodworking department of the Remington Arms Co., Ilion. He is survived by his wife Nancy, 3 sons Frederick Voorhees, Mark Voorhees and his wife Debbie both of N. Carolina and Jeffrey Voorhees, Colorado, 2 stepsons James Hilts, Herkimer and John Navan and his wife Kelly, Colorado, 2 step daughters Joyce Candella, Indiana and Heather Roth and her husband James, N. Carolina, a sister Renita Martin, Dolgeville, 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held in Dolgeville Cemetery, Dolgeville in the spring at a time and date to be announced. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Voorhees be considered to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
