Obituary of George A. Jones, Jr

LITTLE FALLS George A. Jones, Jr., 82 of Gun Club Road, Little Falls passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY. {to be with the love of his life.} He was born on November 27, 1930 in the Town of Salisbury, the son of the late George and Clara (Satterlee) Jones. He was educated in Dolgeville Schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 60 years the former Rose M. Kelly on November 3, 1951 at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church. Mrs. Jones predeceased him on September 17, 2011. Mr. Jones was veteran of the US Army. Entering the service on October 15, 1948 in Utica. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on October 16, 1951at Camp Kilmer, NJ. He was a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post # 31, the Little Falls Polish Community Home and the Little Falls German Maennechor. Mr. Jones was a diary farmer for most of his life owning and operating several dairy farms in the area. He was also at onetime a cattle dealer and was currently working as an attendant on the NYS Thruway at the Iroquois Service Area, Town of Danube. He also served as the Town of Little Falls Animal Control Officer. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, working in his barn and watching the birds in his bird houses at his home. He also loved spending time at his Camp at Keyser Lake. He is survived by his sons George (Buster) Jones and his wife Sundi, Little Falls and Brett Jones, St. Johnsville, his daughters Cynthia Jones and Kenneth Clark, Cold Brook and Robin Jones-Messina and husband Nicholas, Little Falls, brothers Gary Jones (Sandy), East Greenwich, RI and Ronald B. Jones, Oneida, his sister Lorraine Swartz (Kenneth), Dolgeville, thirteen grandchildren Sundi Jones, Courtney Jones (Naomi), George M. Jones IV (Amanda Harris), Rebecca Jones, Joshua Cotton, Kana Berlinsky (Rick), Niki Marie Messina Loefler (Robert), Michael George Jones Messina (Donna), Brandon Nicholas Jones Messina, Jaden Nicholas Jones Messina, Jacob Nicholas Jones Messina, Cearrah Rose Jones Messina, Dasha Hendricks of Utica, and Amarianie Savage, thirteen great grand children including his special great grandson Sebby Messina-Loefler, who he was convinced was an Angel sent to him to lighten his heart from the grief of losing Rose. several nieces and nephews and his dog Mopsie and his horse "Beaut". Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 6:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Joseph Famulare officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 5-6 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Jones be considered to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407.
