Obituary of Gerald F. (Ziggy) Harrod

LITTLE FALLS - Gerald F. (Ziggy) Harrod, 87 of 133 Finks Basin Road, Little Falls passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Little Falls Hospital where he had been a patient since March 22nd . He was born on December 30, 1921 in Little Falls the son of the late George J. and Marie E. (Craver) Harrod. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife of 63 years the former Wanda C. Sienkiewski on February 9, 1946 at St. Josephs Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Harrod predeceased him a few weeks ago on March 5, 2009. Mr. Harrod was employed for 47 years as an Electrician for the former Cherry Burrell Corp., Little Falls. He served for many years as a supervisor for the Town of Danube and was active in the Rock City Senior Citizens, Little Falls. In his younger years helped manufacture the first wrestling and basketball timers and scoreboards invented by Coach Wilbur Crisp of Little Falls. He also operated a small TV repair business. He is survived by his son David Harrod and his wife Lorraine, Newton, NJ, his daughter Barbara Donnelly, Yukon, OK, 5 grandchildren Shawn Donnelly and his wife Susan, Scott Donnelly and his fiancé© Amber McKaig, Jolene Morotti and her husband John, Jason Harrod and his wife Kristin and Mercedes Harrod, a great grandson Lucas Morotti and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph G. Harrod in December of 2004 and a sister Marilyn R. Reed in May of 2003. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Rebecca Laird, Pastor of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow the services for both Mr. & Mrs. Harrod in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 3-5 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Harrod be considered to the Indian Castle Church Restoration Fund, PO Box 172, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
