LITTLE FALLS - Geraldine (Judy) Nemcek, 82 of 218 Loomis Street, Little Falls passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Folts Home, Herkimer following a brief illness. She was born on December 14, 1924 in Little Falls the daughter of Frank and Rita (Goodbread) Grainer. She was educated in West Winfield and Little Falls Schools. She was united in marriage to her husband of 55 years John R. Nemcek on June 29, 1947 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mr. Nemcek predeceased her on March 24, 2003. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls and at onetime was active in the WELCA Ladies Aid Society of that church. An avid Duke basketball and NY Mets fan, who in her later years enjoyed rides in the country and going out on Friday nights for Tilapia dinners. She was especially fond of spending time on E. Monroe Street, with her "adopted" sister Mary Grainer and her 2 sons John and Ricky Grainer. At onetime she was a member of the former Mother's Club, Little Falls and the Little Falls PTA. In her younger years she served as the head Majorette for the former Little Falls Military Band. Mrs. Nemcek was employed at onetime by the former National Automotive Fibers Co., Little Falls where she was extremely proud of her work making parachutes for the World War II effort. She was also employed at onetime by the former F.W. Woolworth Store, P & C Food Store, and the former Boston Store all of Little Falls She was last employed as a sales associate for the former Myers Clothing Store, Little Falls. She is survived by her two sons John P. Nemcek and Robert F. Nemcek and his wife Janice both of Little Falls, her brother Bernard Grainer and his wife Winifred, Leesburg, FL, three sisters Lucille Bruce and her husband Sheldon, Barre, VT, Arlene Puglisi, Utica and Dorothy Scanlon, Herkimer, 2 grandchildren Elizabeth Nemcek and Clint Nemcek and his wife Amanda both of Utica, 5 great grandchildren, Steven Banks, Gabriella and Ashleigh Dano and Brianna and Caleb Nemcek and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 brothers Glen Grainer in 1932, Gerald (Pete) Grainer in 1995, Francis (Red) Grainer in 2000, John R. Grainer, Sr. and Kenneth Grainer both in 2005. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 10:00 am from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls with the Rev. Carl Evans, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls. In keeping with Mrs. Nemcek's wishes there are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Nemcek be considered to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
