Obituary of Gertrude M. Grescheck

JORDANVILLE Gertrude M. Grescheck, 82 of 555 Travis Road, Jordanville passed away Saturday morning April 10, 2010 at her residence with her loving family at her bed side She was born on April 26, 1927 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Dayton O. and Caroline (Hanney) Mosher and attended Little Falls High School. She was united in marriage to her husband of 62 years Anthony Grescheck on June 21, 1947 at St. Marys Church Parish House, Little Falls. Mr. Grescheck predeceased her on November 3, 2009. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls. As well as a member of the Van Hornesville Fire Department ladies Auxiliary where she had served as President. She was also a member of the Herkimer County Mental Health Auxiliary and belong to leagues at the Van Hornesville Bowling Lanes. She and her husband Anthony were very active members of the Polka League and enjoyed traveling to Polka dances for over 30 years. For several years Mrs. Grescheck was employed as a machine operator for the former Allegro Shoe Corp., Little Falls and assisted her husband in the operation of the family dairy farm, Hill Top Farms in Van Hornesville until their retirement in 1996. She is survived by her 2 sons Anthony Grescheck and his wife Theresa and Ronald Grescheck and his wife Beverly both of Jordanville, 3 daughters Linda Hoch and her husband David, Ilion, Rosie Hogan and her husband Daniel, Jordanville and Mary Grescheck and Fritz, Ft. Plain, her brother Edward Mosher, Ilion, her sister Shirley Smith and her husband Joseph, Florida, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Wallace Moshier, Leonard (Duke) Mosher and a sister Emma Singer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Thomas Vail, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Van Hornesville Cemetery, Van Hornesville. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Grescheck be considered to the Van Hornesville Vol. Fire Dept., Main St., Van Hornesville, NY 13475 or to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
