Obituary of Gilbert M. Hoteling
LITTLE FALLS Gilbert M. Hoteling, 83 of 15 Arthur Street, Little Falls passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, where he had been a patient since February 27, 2011.
He was born on April 21, 1927 in St. Johnsville the son of the late Burton and Margaret (Jubar) Hoteling. He was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School class of 1944.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 63 years the former Anne T. Ladeau on July 24, 1948 at St. Marys Church, Little Falls.
Mr. Hoteling was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy. Entering the service on February 27, 1945 in Albany. He was honorably discharged as a Fireman First Class on April 19, 1946 at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, Texas.
He was a member of the Little Falls Elks Lodge # 42 B.P.O.E..
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Most important to him was his time spent with his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Mr. Hoteling was employed as a draftsman and application engineer for the former Cherry Burrell Corp., Little Falls retiring after 45 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Anne, five sons G. Michael Hoteling (Mary), Colville, Washington, Ben Hoteling (Rosalie), Prince Edward Island, Canada, James Hoteling (Lisa), Binghamton, Douglas Hoteling (Kim), Little Falls and Andrew Hoteling (Tracy), Rochester, four daughters Phyllis Dickey, Mohawk, Jane Hoteling (George Spak), Syracuse, Beth Hoteling , Little Falls and Sue Ellen Gay (John), Ilion, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur, Howard and Roger Hoteling and his sisters Ruth Everson and Mary Grace Urbiss, grandsons Jacob Hoteling in 2000 and Brian Fralick in 2003 and by a son in law Nelson Dickey in 2005.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 6:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Betsy Jay, Chaplain of the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown officiating. Interment will take place in Church Street Cemetery in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 3-6 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow.
