Obituary of Kenneth Grainer
LITTLE FALLS - Kenneth Grainer, 78 0f 590 E. Monroe Street, Little Falls passed away Saturday, January 17, 2005 at the Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls where he had been a resident since January 7, 2005.
He was born on February 21, 1926 in Little Falls the son of late Frank and Rita (Goodbread) Grainer. He was educated in Richfield Springs and Little Falls Schools.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 56 years the former Mary Swartz on April 9, 1948 in Newport, NY.
Mr. Grainer was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy. Entering the service on June 8, 1944. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman Second Class on July 8, 1946.
He was a ember of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls. As well as a member of the Little Falls German Maennechor and served as a member of the Little Falls Call Firemen's Association for 20 years. He was an avid Syracuse University Basketball and NY Yankees fan.
Mr. Grainer was employed as an assembler for the Cherry - Burrell Corp., Little Falls for 42 years. Retiring in 1988.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather he is survived by his wife Mary, 2 sons Richard K. Grainer and John A. Grainer, both of Little Falls , a brother Bernard Grainer and his wife Winifred, Florida, 4 sisters Judy Nemcek, Little Falls, Lucille Bruce and her husband Sheldon, Vermont, Arlene Pugliese, Utica and Dorothy Scanlon, Herkimer, 2 cherished grandchildren Lauren Grainer, Herkimer and Ryan Grainer, Albany, 3 special nephews John Nemcek, Jeffrey Grainer and Bruce Grainer all of Little Falls and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased brothers Glen Grainer, Gerald (Pete) Grainer, Francis (Red) Grainer and John R. Grainer, who predeceased him on January 7, 2005.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Recto of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Grainer be considered to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 588 Albany St, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
