Obituary of Harold G. Knapp

LITTLE FALLS - Harold G. Knapp, 93 formerly of 240 Church Street, Little Falls passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Masonic Care Community, Utica, where he had been a resident since October of 2012. He was born on April 26, 1920 in Dolgeville the daughter of the late Earl J. and Myrtle (Doxtader) Knapp and attend Little Falls High School. He was united in marriage to his wife of 67 years the former Gertrude L. Urich on May 30, 1946 at the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mrs. Knapp predeceased him just two weeks prior on June 23, 2013. Mr. Knapp was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army Air Corps. Entering the service on April 23, 1942 in Utica and served with the 39th Bombardment Group and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on February 1, 1946 at Ft. Dix, NJ. Mr. Knapp was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls and served on the church council for many years. He is survived by his sons Alan D. Knapp, Sherrill, NY and Donald B. Knapp and his wife Mary Ann, Sauquoit, NY, his grandsons Scott, Brett, Matthew, David, Michael and Christopher Knapp, a brother William E. Knapp, Mt. Vernon, NY, a sister in law Helen Urich, Little Falls and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Richard H. Knapp in 1954, a sister Mildred Dicks in 1996 and by his daughter in law Mary E. Knapp in 2000. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Vicar Christin Fawcett of the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Knapp be considered to the Christ Lutheran Church, 14 Petrie St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
