Obituary of Harry R. Scheuerman
SALISBURY CENTER Harry R. Scheuerman, 77 of 147 State Route 29A, Salisbury Center passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Little Falls Hospital after being stricken at home.
He was born on February 11, 1935 in Waterloo, NY the son of the late Alfred & Lettie (Pollard) Scheuerman. He was a graduate of Stratford Central School Class of 1953.
A veteran of the Korean War he served as a member of the US Marine Corps. Entering the service in January of 1954. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and bases in the far east as a heavy equipment operator. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in January of 1957.
In August of 1975 he was united in marriage to his wife of 36 years the former Diane M. Howard in Dolgeville.
He was employed as a foreman for the Pettibone Corp, Rome from 1966 to 1985. From then until his retirement in 1997 he was employed as a machinist for the EJ Willis Co., Middleville.
Mr. Scheuerman was a member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Dept. Joining as a firefighter in 1963, he served as Second Assistant Chief 1965, First Assistant Chief and County Delegate 1966, Chief of the Department 1967, First Assistant Chief, 1971 and Financial Secretary from 1973 1974. He was a charter member of the Salisbury Volunteer and Exempt Firemans Benevolent Association. He was also a past member of the Dolgeville Volunteer Fire Dept. and Salisbury & Stratford (S&S) Ambulance Corps serving as its President from 1988 1989, Town of Salisbury Councilman and member for the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. But his true passion was as a musician especially as a "fiddle" player. He along with his band the "Country Playboys " traveled the area entertaining at many different venues.
He is survived by his wife Diane, his sons Keith Scheuerman, Little Falls, Brian Scheuerman and companion Billie Jo Boyer, Salisbury Center and David Scheuerman and companion Christine Tenney, Stratford, his daughters Brenda Chamberlin and companion Jesse Crews, Lake Wales, FL, Cynthia Briggs and husband Ronald, Salisbury Center, Vicki Scheuerman, St. Johnsville, Julie Ruggiero and husband David, Salisbury Center, brothers Alfred Scheuerman, California and Renford Scheuerman and wife Judi, Gloversville, thirteen grandchildren Kyle Nourse, Emily Briggs, Megan Adams, Eric Scheuerman, Alec Tenney, Tyler, Ethan, Hannah and Andrew Scheuerman, Jarrod Chamberlin, Katlyn Crews, Tad and Tia Ruggiero, a great grandson Evan Adams and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Roberta.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, where Military Honors will be accorded by the US Marine Corps.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls.
