Obituary of Harvey Dunckel, Sr

STRATFORD - Harvey Dunckel, Sr., 87 of 546 Avery Road, Stratford passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Little Falls Hospital after being admitted earlier in the day. He was born on June 29, 1916 in Cherry Valley the son of the late Ervin and Kristina (Kovac) Dunckel. He was educated in Cherry Valley schools. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Leve on May 21, 1937 at the Waterville Methodist Church. Mrs. Dunckel predeceased him on February 12, 1993. Mr. Dunckel was of the Methodist faith. He was a member at onetime of the Ilion Masonic Lodge and later transferring to the Dolgeville - Little Falls Masonic Lodge # 796, F&AM,, the Ilion Elks Lodge and later the Little Falls Elks Lodge # 42, B.P.O.E. He was also a member of the Ziyara Temple of the Shrine, Utica, the Sprite Club, Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club, and Kettle Beaver Club, Stratford. Mr. Dunckel at onetime operated the former Bronner Farms in the Town of Manheim. He later was employed as a Bus Driver for the New York Central Coach Lines, Mohawk after leaving that position he was employed by General Electric Co., Utica for several years. He would later return to the New York Central Coach Lines, Yorkville where he served as a Bus Driver until his retirement. He is survived by 4 sons Arthur E. Dunckel, Sr. and his wife Jenny, Ilion, Harvey W. Dunckel, Jr. and his wife Marilyn, Herkimer, David A. Dunckel, Sr., Frankfort and Martin J. Dunckel, Mohawk, 3 daughters Beverly D. Matusik, Frankfort, Kathleen M. Farrell, Mohawk and Priscilla Dobrenski and her husband Jeff, Frankfort, a brother Frank Alder, PA, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Florence Dunckel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the Herkimer-Little Falls Untied Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday (Today), May 27, 2004 from 6-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Friday morning.
