Obituary of Helen A. Sherman
LITTLE FALLS - Helen A. Sherman, 99 formerly of E. Monroe Street, Little Falls passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Folts Home, Herkimer where she had been a resident since July of 2006.
She was born on January 27, 1909 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Fred E. and Elizabeth R. (Forbes) Abbott. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1927.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 41 years Edward H. Sherman on June 29, 1929. He predeceased her on June 12, 1970.
Mrs. Sherman was a member of St. Pauls Universalist Church, Little Falls. As well as a charter member of the Little Falls Lady Elks and a past member of the Little Falls Home Bureau. She was enjoyed crocheting, knitting and was an avid reader
She was employed for 20 years as a claims clerk for the New York State Dept. of Labor Office, Little Falls. She was also employed at onetime for the former Reiman Hardware Store, Little Falls.
Surviving are her son Daulton A. Sherman and his companion Readoth Young, Little Falls, her daughter Karen Grissom and her husband Don, Felton, Delaware, 8 grandchildren John Sherman and his wife Susan, Aurora, CO, Cheryl Glosser and her husband Gary, Rochester, William Sherman and his wife Kozue, Tokyo, Japan, Linda Quackenbush and her husband Robert, Albion, NY, Douglas Sherman, Las Vegas, Scott Sherman, Denver, Lori Long, Colorado and Don Grissom, Jr., Felton, Delaware, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Caroll E. Sherman on October 30, 2008, a sister Louise A. Sweet on February 6, 1992, a daughter in law Irene Sherman on October 27, 2004 and by a great granddaughter Jennifer Quackenbush on December 31, 2006.
Graveside services will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls in the spring of 2009.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
