Obituary of Helen M. Salanco

LITTLE FALLS Helen M. Salanco, 79 of 541 North Creek Road, Little Falls passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at St. Elizabeths Medical Center, Utica. Helen was born on April 8, 1929 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Phillip and Rose (Urich) Miller. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School. She was united in marriage to her husband of 59 years Daniel Salanco on June 11, 1949 at Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls and was an active member as well. Helen was employed for many years at Salada Foods Corp., Little Falls retiring in 1991. She was also employed at onetime by the former Rialto Theater and at various retail stores in Little Falls. She is survived by her husband Daniel, a son Darren Salanco and wife Connie, Little Falls, 2 daughters Joanne Aldrich and husband Ron and Pearl Scanlon and husband James, both of Little Falls, a brother Edward J. Miller, Middleville and a sister Arlene Murphy and husband Bob, Castlebury, FL, 4 grandchildren Ryan Aldrich, Aaron Aldrich, Ben Scanlon and Jared Scanlon. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Emil Miller in 1959, Robert H. (Bobo) Miller in 1988 and 2 sisters Eva Edick in 1993 and Lillian Caiola in 1999. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 5:30 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. James Paulson, officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls at the convenience of the family. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Helen be considered to the Alzheimers Association, CNY Chapter, 441 West Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to St. Elizabeths Medical Center especially the staff of the third floor for the kindness and care shown to Helen and her family.
