Obituary of Ernest H. Hobb

Ernest H. Hobb LITTLE FALLS - Ernest H. Hobb 84 of 14 Valley Brook Drive, Little Falls passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at the Folts Home, Herkimer where he had been a resident since December of 2001. He was born on April 21, 1918 in Little Falls the son of the late John and Minnie (Stallman) Hobb. He was educated in Little Falls Schools and attended trade school at the former Steuben Street School, Herkimer. He was united in marriage to the former Mildred M. Follmer on July 29, 1944 at the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls with the Rev. JFK Riebisell officiating. He was a veteran World War II serving with the US Marine Corps., entering the service on March 11, 1942. He served in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on April 12, 1946. Mr. Hobb and his wife Mildred resided in Little Falls most of their lives and for a short time built a new home and resided in East Herkimer, later returning to Little Falls. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls and was active in various church organizations. He also served at onetime as a member of the church council and as Sunday school superintendent. He was also a former member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612, V.F.W., Little Falls. Mr. Hobb was a well known auto body repairman who was employed in several garages throughout the Mohawk Valley, he also served as a automobile salesman and insurance adjuster. He was last employed by the former Slabe's Sales & Service, Little Falls retiring in 1972. He is survived by his wife Mildred, a sister Minnie L. Anderson, Little Falls, 3 sisters in law Veronica Hobb, Little Falls, Ann Hobb, Lansdale, PA and Alice Lamb, Little Falls and several nieces. nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Carl Hobb, who died in December of 1998 and Oscar Hobb, who died in April of 1999 and by a brother in law Steve Anderson, who died in July of 1999. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 11:00 am from the Christ Lutheran Church, 14 Petrie Street, Little Falls with the Vicar James Paulson officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills in the spring. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Hobb be considered to the Christ Lutheran Church, 14 Petrie St., Little Falls 13365 or to the Folts Home, 104 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Folts Home for the kind and compassionate care given to Ernie.
