Obituary of Joan A. Metz

LITTLE FALLS - Joan A. Metz, 72 of 266 Cemetery Road, Little Falls passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her residence. She was born on September 13, 1938 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Stanley Trasky and Bessie (Radley) Trasky Fohey. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School class of 1956. She was united in marriage to her husband of 53 years Ronald S. Metz on January 5, 1957 at the First Baptist Church, Little Falls. Mrs. Metz was employed for 20 years by the Folts Home, Herkimer beginning her career as a nurses aide while at Folts Home she attended the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Herkimer Co. BOCES and received her license. She later was employed for 10 years by the CNY DSO, Rome until her retirement. A loving wife, mother and grandmother she found her greatest joy in spending her time with her family and friends. She was also a avid animal lover and enjoyed caring for her many pets. She is survived by her husband Ronald, her two sons Ronald S. Metz, Jr. and his wife Rhoni and Shane D. Metz both of Little Falls, four daughters Bambi Russett and her husband William, Waterville, Cori Jerin and her husband Richard, Little Falls, Karen Atkins and her husband Michael, Newport and Jodi Cronin and her husband Mitchell, Little Falls, her brother Merwin Trasky and his wife Beverly, Little Falls, 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Joans life will be held at 7:30 pm Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5 7:30 pm. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 10:00 am at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Metz be considered to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
