Obituary of John H. Barton
PALATINE BRIDGE - John H. Barton, 71 of 20 Mary St., Palatine Bridge formerly of Little Falls passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at the VA Hospital, Albany.
He was born on August 17, 1932 in Little Falls the son of the late John F. and Vera V. (Dygert) Barton. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1950.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 48 years the former Wanda M. Morse on August 25, 1955 at the First Baptist Church, Little Falls by the Rev. Frederick Thorne.
Mr. Barton was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War. Entering the service on September 9, 1952 in Albany. He served as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He was honorably discharged on August 27, 1956 at the US Naval Station at Newport, RI.
Mr. Barton was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls.
He was employed for several years as a welder for the former Cherry - Burrell Corp., Little Falls. He was last employed for 22 years as a machinist for the Beech-Nut Food Corp., Canajoharie. Retiring in 1995.
He is survived by his wife Wanda, 3 sons David Barton and his wife Lori, Gloversville, John Barton and his wife Evelyn, Tulsa, OK and Mark Barton and his wife Terri, Starkville, 5 daughters Melissa Barton, Palatine Bridge, Lori Bowerman and her husband James, Dawn Colegrove and her husband Randy, Tina Stewart and her husband Randy and Heidi Nichols and Charles Dygert all of Canajoharie, 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Irene Knopf, who died on December 22, 1983.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, October 17, 2003 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Saturday morning.
